The Norwegian Institute for Water Research (NIVA) and MGC would be leading the ASAP project. The primary objectives of the project are hosting an international ‘Knowledge Hub’ and contributing to reduce marine litter through delivering science-based knowledge on determinants and releases of plastic litter to the sea in rapidly changing Asian developing countries such as India, China and Indonesia. The international knowledge hub would facilitate dialogue between science and governance. Through the project activities, Norway’s role in supporting global efforts to reduce marine litter will be visible to stakeholders and researchers in Asia. This multi-institutional project is being funded by Research Council of Norway and has multiple partners in India, China and Indonesia.
