The Ministry of Climate Change and Environment, Norwegian Embassy in New Delhi, Norwegian Institute of Water Research (NIVA), The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) and Mu Gamma Consultants Pvt. Ltd. (MGC) hosted this event in India Habitat Centre. It was participated by a huge number of international scientists, academicians, policy makers, global leaders, youth and student communities.
This initiative is conceived to bring together delegates from Governmental Authorities of Norway and India, including delegates of the Indian Central Pollution Control Board, Norwegian Embassy, Norwegian Ministry of Climate and Environment, along with a number of representatives from Indian and International organizations operating in the research and environmental sector.
This was the first workshop of this series and the session covered the following aspects:
· Knowledge status on land-based pollution transport to the Ocean. Particular focus on data gaps and opportunities to close them. This will cover major classes of organic pollutants, mercury and plastic debris/microplastics.
· Implementation of international conventions as a tool to mitigate marine pollution.
· Challenges for sound chemical and waste management (with a special focus for India)
