Mu Gamma Consultants and its partners launched its new project titled ‘India-Norway cooperation project on capacity building for reducing plastic and chemical pollution in India’ (INOPOL) in April 2019 in New Delhi. The project is funded by the Norwegian Government’s Development Assistance Program against Marine Litter and Microplastics. The project partners include Norwegian Institute for Water Research (NIVA), The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI), Central Institute of Plastics Engineering & Technology (CIPET), Toxic Links, and SRM Institute of Science and Technology. The key impact goal is to prevent and substantially reduce the scope of marine litter from sources in developing countries. The expected outcomes include:
• Improved waste management infrastructure and systems (land-based sources)
• Waste cleaned up from selected rivers and waste properly managed
• Sustainable production, use, and responsible waste management – private sector
• Strengthening of national and regional instruments to prevent marine litter and microplastics.
